Your Company Data Could Be Worth $100K to $2M
AI companies are paying established businesses for real internal data: SOPs, knowledge bases, CRM records, project histories, QA processes and team communications. The documentation you already have can become a new revenue stream. If you want to sell, answer three quick questions to see if your company qualifies.
- Open to every industry
- US companies first, then other Western markets
- No new work, you license what already exists

A Slack workspace that has been in use for a few years holds a huge amount of company knowledge. Most teams have no idea how much. This tool opens your Slack export file and counts it for you. Drop in the ZIP file you downloaded from Slack, or pick the unzipped folder. The analyzer reads every channel and every day of messages, then shows the total messages, words and estimated AI tokens. It also lists your busiest channels, your most active members and how activity has grown year by year. Everything runs inside your browser. Your messages never leave your computer, and nothing is stored after you close the page. It is useful for IT leads planning a migration, managers sizing an archive for an AI assistant and owners who want to know what their company knowledge base is really worth.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I export my Slack workspace?
Workspace owners and admins can go to Settings and administration, then Workspace settings, then Import/Export Data, and choose Export. On free and Pro plans the standard export covers public channels. Business+ and Enterprise Grid plans can request exports that include private channels and direct messages.
Is my Slack data uploaded anywhere?
No. The analyzer reads the ZIP file inside your browser using built in browser features. No messages, names or files are sent to any server. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
What is inside a Slack export file?
A Slack export is a ZIP file with a users.json and channels.json file at the top, plus one folder per channel. Each channel folder holds one JSON file per day with every message posted that day, including the user ID, timestamp and text.
How are tokens counted?
Tokens are the units AI models read. This tool uses the common estimate of about 1.33 tokens per English word. The real count can vary by a few percent depending on the model, but the estimate is close enough to size a dataset.
Why would a company care how many words are in Slack?
Years of team chat hold a lot of knowledge about how a company really works. That makes it useful for internal search, AI assistants and, in some cases, data licensing deals with AI companies. Knowing the size of the archive is the first step in any of these projects.
What the Export Includes
A standard Slack export includes public channels only. Private channels and direct messages are included only on Business+ or Enterprise Grid plans after an approved export request. Files and images are not inside the ZIP, only links to them, so the export is mostly text.
Words, Pages and Tokens
The tool counts words in every message, ignoring join and leave notices. Pages assume about 500 words per page. Tokens use the common estimate of 1.33 tokens per English word, which is how AI models measure text size and how many data deals are priced.
Why Chat Archives Matter
Team chat shows how problems really get solved: who asked what, which fix worked and how long it took. That context is hard to find in formal documents. It is why chat archives are useful for internal AI search and for licensing to companies that build AI tools for work.
Privacy Tips
Your export holds names, emails and private conversations. Store it somewhere safe and delete copies you no longer need. Before sharing any part of it, remove personal details. Check your company policy and local law for rules on employee messages.
